More than 7000 examples of the Hyundai i30 N have been recalled over concerns a manufacturing defect in the high-pressure fuel pump could cause the engine to stall without warning while driving.

Key details:

  • 7,293 examples have been recalled
  • The affected model years are 2017 – 2022
  • Find a full list of affected VINs here

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel control valve in the high-pressure fuel pump could allow excess fuel to enter the pump. If this occurs, the engine could stall resulting in a sudden loss of motive power whilst driving.”

“A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving may increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants,” the recall stated.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted in writing by Hyundai Motor Company Australia, asking them to schedule an appointment as soon as possible to have the fuel pump impeller inspected and replaced, free of charge.
