Ford Australia has issued a recall for the Mustang over fears a software issue may cause the brake fluid warning light may not illuminate if the brake level is low.

Key details:

  • A total of 207 vehicles are affected.
  • The recall affects Mustangs built from 2021-2023.
  • A list of affected VINs can be found here.

“Due to a software issue, the brake fluid warning light may not illuminate as intended to warn the driver if the brake fluid level is low. As a result, insufficient brake fluid could lead to a reduction in braking performance”, the recall said.

“A reduction in braking performance could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Ford Australia requesting owners to make an appointment to have the car’s Body Control Module (BCM) software updated.

For more information, owners can read the original recall notice here, or contact Ford Customer Relationship Centre on 133 673.
