Volvo Car Corporation has recalled the Volvo EX30 EV over fears a battery defect could lead to a fire.

According to the original recall “due to a manufacturing issue, the cell modules installed in the high voltage battery may overheat at high charge levels. If this occurs, it could lead to a vehicle fire.”

Key details:

  • A total of 2815 units are affected
  • 2024-2025 models affected
  • A full list of VINs can be found here.

“Keep the battery charge level below 70% which can be set in the Charging setting menu on the vehicle display.”

When a fix for the defect is available, owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Volvo requesting them to schedule an appointment with an authorised dealer to have the repair work carried out, free of charge.
