Volkswagen Group Australia has issues a recall for the Skoda Kodiaq SUV due to concerns a manufacturing defect may damage the side airbag in the event of an accident.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the inner frame edge of the front seats may have been produced with improperly finished surfaces. As a result, the frame edge could damage the side airbags during deployment”, the recall states.

Key details:
In the event of an accident the airbag not deploying as intended may result in insufficient protection, increasing the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.”
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted and asked to schedule an appointment at a Skoda dealer to have the vehicle repaired at no cost.
