More than 34,000 examples of the Toyota Kluger have been recalled over concerns a design fault may cause a second-row seat back to move unexpectedly, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants in a crash.
Affected variants include the Kluger 4×2 (GX, GXL, Grande), Kluger AWD (GX, GXL, Grande), and Kluger Hybrid (GX, GXL, Grande)
Key details:
“Due to a design issue, the second-row seat recliner mechanism may not fully engage during seat back adjustment. As a result, the seat back could move inadvertently.”
“In the event of an accident or hard braking, if the second-row seat recliner mechanism is not fully engaged and the seat back moves inadvertently, it could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants,” the recall stated.
Toyota will contact affected vehicle owners in writing to request an appointment at their preferred dealer to rectify the issue for free.
