The Ford Puma badge was reintroduced to the Australian market in 2020 after a long hiatus. The Australian version came in three variants: Puma, ST-Line, and ST-Line V. The base Puma variant came with features such as an 8.0-inch touchscreen, a wireless phone charger, and a reversing camera. The ST-Line variant included sportier elements like a body kit, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a different steering wheel. The top-of-the-range ST-Line V variant added features like leather-accented seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a hands-free power tailgate.
In 2021, the lineup was expanded with the addition of the Ford Puma ST, a high-performance variant with a more powerful engine, larger brakes, stiffer suspension, a Quaife limited-slip differential, launch control, and selectable drive modes. Sadly, however, this variant was not available in Australia.
Throughout 2020-2022, the Puma received several updates, including the introduction of new color options and minor changes to the standard equipment list.

If you’re shopping in the small crossover SUV market, you should absolutely look at the Ford Puma. It stands out thanks to its surprisingly punchy 3-cylinder engine, which is decently fuel-efficient if you don’t drive like a maniac, and through our research, there isn’t anything that stands out as a ‘common’ issue.
While the Puma is often overlooked by many buyers for the likes of the Hyundai Venue or Mazda CX-3 (both great options), the Puma is certainly worthy of more attention.
There’s plenty of tech and features on offer, good safety features as standard and, while granted it’s relatively new, is showing good reliability and is highly regarded among many owners groups.
Thankfully many stills have plenty of factory support left on them thanks to the five-year warranty, so any issues should be covered.
